You have probably noticed that ministries in churches are usually divided by age group. Have you ever thought that by doing this we might be missing out on some precious opportunities for intergenerational relationships?
We often assume that the only people we can learn from are people like ourselves. People our age that are going through the same things we are going through. I want to encourage you to think about this and to make an effort to connect your college students with other member of the congregation.
To give you and your students a taste of this, we are going to bring the concept of intergenerational relationships and prayer together. We are going to match every college student in your program with a member of our senior ministry. Once the match has been made we will plan five one-on-one meetings per year between that college student and the respective senior member.
College students and seniors are going to love this opportunity, it’ll give them a chance to get out of their comfort zone and build bridges. We have not only recruited our seniors to meet with our young people one-on-one but also to pray daily for that college student. We are also going to match you, lay leaders with a senior and have him or her pray for you and your ministry on a daily basis. Next: Your Jesus
